Hello Class 4. Let’s see what is happening in Spring 2 term!
Our class teacher is Mrs Hirst and our teaching assistant is Miss Tutill.
During the week, your child will also work with other teaching adults Mrs Merrills, Mrs Cavnor, Miss Hemingway and Mr Fox.
Here is some information that you will need for this half term.
PE is on Mondays and Wednesdays. Don’t forget your PE kits! It might be useful not to wear jewellery on those days. Your child may need help to dress and undress and the teachers will help. You could get your child to practice dressing and doing buttons and fastenings at home to help their independence.
We start our day with register and assembly, so it is really important that your child is on time. Lunch options are available online and we help your child choose what they would like, but you can also choose from home for each day.
We have a broad and balanced curriculum with a range of subjects along with our core offer of phonics, reading, literacy, maths and PE. Some subjects are taught in alternate chunks during the term.
This half term we are studying:
A story and instructions in Literacy, with spelling. Grammar, punctuation and handwriting practice.
Multiplication, division and Measures in Maths
Religious studies- Christianity and Easter
Design Technology – making smoothies and learning about fruit and vegetables
Computing – Coding
History – Local study
Music – Round and round -
PSHE – Celebrating difference
Science – protecting the environment
PE – games
We will be visiting the Church as part of History and RE. We will be visiting the Maurice Dobson Museum too!
Homework – Spellings will be set weekly and will be tested every Friday. When you get your weekly list, just practice reading, writing and spelling the words until you know them for your test. Spelling Shed is a great way to practise your spellings. Also try out Numbots for maths practice.
As part of our updated reading and phonics structure we expect your child to read as often as possible, and change their books on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. They should keep their books in a book bag.
Your child will have a book bag book, a phonics book and a choice of book from the classroom shelf, which you may wish to read together and enjoy.
We have a lovely new library too and your child visits each Friday.
Please use your Boom Reader log in to record when your child as read. Then they can earn gems!
Thank you.
Mrs Hirst
